Bodytonic clinic goes from strength to strength

James is excited about how Dock Office Gardens is helping open up the space around bodytonic clinic

With workspaces tailored to operations of all sizes, Canada Water is a place where businesses can grow.

One such business is bodytonic clinic, an award-winning medical centre offering treatments including osteopathy, physiotherapy, chiropractic, cupping, massage, Pilates, foot health, shockwave therapy (a non-invasive treatment that uses sound waves to promote healing in soft tissues), podiatry, health and beauty.

Bodytonic clinic’s journey began with registered osteopath James Gill, who has lived in Canada Water for the past 20 years. He started with a massage table in his flat, and now runs a team of 30 practitioners working in the Dock Offices, the listed Victorian building that also houses British Land’s project HQ. The clinic handles around 28,000 appointments a year, mostly helping people recover from back pain, neck pain, sports injuries and desk-based job injuries.

The business has grown organically from James working as a one-man outfit, to the eight treatment rooms and a rehab studio they use today.

James saw a gap in the market in Canada Water, which didn’t have anywhere offering physio, chiro or osteopathy before he set up bodytonic clinic. But the other thing that made this a perfect place for him to start a business was the location. Close to central London with good transport links, but surrounded by green open spaces, it’s an attractive residential area that ensures a steady stream of custom.

Bodytonic clinic is very much part of the community here in Canada Water. Professionally, they work with local GPs, personal trainers, fitness instructors and other holistic health practitioners. They also do a lot of work with local charities, offering treatments and massages as prizes to help with their fundraising efforts.

With the development bringing more people to Canada Water, the bodytonic clinic team are looking forward to the opportunity to grow the business further. With Dock Office Gardens opening up the space leading to the new Canada Water Leisure Centre right on bodytonic clinic’s doorstep, new local-run restaurants opening later in the year and new walkways such as Marker Way soon to connect the area into the wider development, bodytonic clinic is preparing to find itself in the thick of the action as Canada Water grows.

James says: “The development has been a long time coming and it’s finally here. The team at bodytonic clinic are looking forward to the newly created gardens linking the clinic with the leisure centre, walkways leading to the dockside and the new red bridge (Rafter Walk). This will turn the dock offices from a once-hidden space into a beautiful green open area bustling with local residents and visitors alike.”

The services bodytonic clinic offer are part of a comprehensive wellbeing offer at Canada Water, including abundant green and blue spaces and a variety of sports organisations and sporting facilities offering all kinds of ways to get active. It’s all part of a growing neighbourhood that’s designed to offer quality of life to those who live here, and those who come here to work or visit.
