Grab your towel, lace up your sports shoes and get ready to move. The much-anticipated Canada Water Leisure Centre is here!
The state-of-the art facility, managed by Southwark Council, replaces the 60-year-old Seven Islands Leisure Centre with a venue that offers twice as many sport and leisure classes, catering to all abilities and ages.
Get the adrenaline flowing with Bodypump or Boxercise in the Move Studio, saddle up for Spinning in the Cycle Studio or find balance with yoga, tai chi or meditation in the Flow Studio. Classes run seven days a week. Click here for a full timetable and find your new fitness favourite, whether you’re looking for something to get your heart pumping in your lunch break, or a way to get active at the weekend.
Canada Water Leisure Centre also has two swimming pools – an eight-lane main pool plus a smaller learner pool, with open swimming sessions and lessons for all ages throughout the week.
Both are designed with inclusivity firmly in mind, fitted with hoists to support access for those with additional needs, while the learner pool is fitted with a movable floor, meaning it can be adjusted for different user groups and can offer new swim classes: including under-5s for the first time.
Outside of the pool, visitors will find a host of further features put in place to make activities accessible to all, in line with the requirements of Sport England. The new gym – which has over 90 different pieces of equipment – features seated rowers and weight machines with adjustable heights. The lifts have been designed to accommodate four to five wheelchair users simultaneously, offering easy access for wheelchair teams, and dedicated Changing Places mean all types of families can find a safe and accessible space for getting kitted up.
A standout feature of the new leisure centre is the triple height multi-sports hall, which has four courts to play host to football, cricket, badminton and more.
The opening of Canada Water Leisure Centre represents the achievement of a key goal for Phase 1 of the Canada Water development. British Land are committed to enhancing opportunities for active lifestyles and wellbeing as we build the development, and the new leisure centre will provide many such opportunities for all who spend time in the area.
Canada Water Leisure Centre will be open:
- Monday to Friday – 6.30am to 10pm
- Saturday – 7am to 6pm
- Sunday – 7am to 10pm
