Canada Water’s new leisure centre opened last year with two pools, two group exercise studios offering classes ranging from circuit training to group cycling, a large wooden-floored sports hall marked out for 10 different sports, and a spacious, world-class gym. The whole complex has been designed to be accessible to people of all abilities, with wheelchair-friendly navigation and hoists in the pool among other adaptations.

Make a splash at Surrey Docks Fitness & Watersports Centre
With sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, rowing and power boating on offer, plus open water swimming in the warmer months, Surrey Docks Fitness & Watersports Centre is the place to make the most of the open water we’ve inherited from the age of the working docks. Located at Greenland Dock, once a base for whaling ships, the centre also boasts a a gym and three fitness studios.

Hit the crease at Southwark Park Cricket Club
Southwark Park Cricket Club is a community club run by and for local people at the historic Southwark Park Oval. The club provides coaching and matches for children, youths, women and men – all are welcome, regardless of background or experience. Funding from British Land enables summer and off-season community cricket coaching for 9 to 15-year-olds. The programme also involves upskilling and training local residents to become coaches for the youth programmes.

Get around under your own steam
Canada Water’s 130 acres of open spaces make it the perfect walk or bike ride, and many of the journeys people here make day-to-day can be undertaken without getting in a car. As part of a £33m investment in the area’s transport network, British Land is putting measures in place to promote active travel, including 4.1km of new walkways and cycle paths, 10,000 bike spaces and three Santander cycle hire stations.
