Local road network

Over the coming months, a number of works are expected to take place on the local road network. These are to support the next stage of the development, such as the diversion of utilities in advance of main construction activity.  To help plan your journey, an overview of works expected to take place by British Land’s contractors or utility providers is included below.

 British Land or utility providers will contact close residents in advance of any works beginning.  All works on the public highway involve many months of discussion and co-ordination before permits are granted by Southwark Council. We appreciate that there will be disruption while this work is carried out, thank you for your ongoing patience. 

 

Surrey Quays Road and Redriff Road

Morrison Water Services are carrying out utility diversion works along Redriff Road and Surrey Quays Road. To facilitate this, traffic management is expected to be in place in phases until the summer, with pedestrian access maintained. Morrison Water Services are minimising disruption as far as possible. Please be assured that the works will not impact the water supply. 

In the coming months UK Power Networks expect to undertake cable installation works from the junction of Deal Porters Way to the junction of Needleman Street, requiring a single lane closurePedestrian access will be maintained at all times and UK Power Networks will write to close neighbours in advance of any works beginning.

Needleman Street

UK Power Networks are undertaking cable installation works along Needleman Street. To enable these works, temporary two-way traffic lights are in place on Needleman Street. Access to properties and for pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

From Monday 28 April, UK Power Networks expect a full road closure to be in place along Needleman Street from the junction of Christopher Close to the junction of Albatross Way. A signed diversion route will be in place for vehicles. Access for residents parking on Garter Way, Eleanor Close and Christopher Close will be maintained, when safe to do so. UK Power Networks have written to close neighbours in advance. UK Power Networks will be working from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sundays, as approved by Southwark Council.

These works are not expected to impact the electricity supply, however there may be some noise from the digging activities during these works. UK Power Networks apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and will aim to minimise disruption as far as possible.

Gomm Road and Lower Road  

UK Power Networks expect to begin cable installation works on Lower Road between the junction of Surrey Quays Road and the junction of Gomm Road in the coming months. Temporary traffic lights will be in place and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. UK Power Networks will write to close neighbours in advance of works starting.
